Gardaí at Adree Co Louth are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 2pm today on the M1 Northbound between Junction 14 and 15.

Gardaí at Adree Co Louth are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 2pm today on the M1 Northbound between Junction 14 and 15.

Two cars and a truck were involved in the collision.

The male driver and sole occupant of one of the cars was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and two passengers in the other car were injured and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with non life threatening injuries.

The M1 remains closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and will remain closed for a number of hours. Diversions are in place.
