Davy Condon has been confirmed as the new stable jockey to trainer Nicky Richards.
The position became available after Tony Dobbin retired recently and Richards is pleased to land the Irish pilot, who has ridden winners both on the Flat and over jumps.
Richards said: “He’s a high-class jockey and it was Tony who first brought my attention to Davy when he saw him riding at Cheltenham a few years ago.”
Condon won the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Festival last year aboard the Willie Mullins-trained Ebaziyan and is due to make the full-time switch in September.
He added: “This is a great opportunity at this stage of my career to get a first-jockey job and I’m really looking forward to it.
“The facilities are fantastic and the Cumbrian countryside is beautiful – in fact it reminded me a lot of home,” he told the Racing Post.
