A 26-year-old Dublin woman who has been a heroin addict since the age of 15 is expected to appear in court today after a bench warrant was issued for her arrest.

Rachel Keogh has agreed to turn up at Pearse St garda station so the warrant can be executed.

Ms Keogh escaped from garda custody last week. A doctor came to give her methadone while she was in the garda station and she managed to run out of the cell when the doctor left.

The Mercer St woman - who appeared in media reports last week in pictures showing how her arms have been devastated by heroin use - is facing a string of shoplifting charges dating back more than a year.
