A mother has given birth to twins hours apart in two different countries.

Dylan Joseph and Hannah Rose Fox were welcomed into the world in England and Scotland respectively after mum Donna Keenan unexpectedly went into labour and gave birth to her son on her living room floor in Northumberland, North East England, as she had no time to get to the hospital.

Due to the premature birth, paramedics opted to drive Donna to the hospital – located one hour away in Melrose, Scotland – in time for Hannah to be born.

Donna, 28, admitted she is still getting over the "shock" of her speedy delivery.

She is quoted by the Sunday Sun as saying: "I’m still getting over the shock of what’s happened. It’s all such a blur."
