The Tánaiste and Minister for Justice Mr Michael McDowell, today announced the allocation of €2m funding targeted at CLÁR areas under the Equality for Women Measure.

Announcing his decision, the Tánaiste said: "This development further builds on the success of the initial phases of the Equality for Women Measure. Under Phase II RAPID areas (the urban redevelopment areas) were targeted with €7m in funding for specific positive action measures to advance women's participation in the labour market.

"Following on from the success of that targeted initiative, I have now decided to provide €2m for a similarly targeted approach of CLÁR areas, the areas of rural disadvantage."
