A man is in hospital after a shooting in Dublin this evening.

A man is in hospital after a shooting in Dublin this evening.

The man in his 20s was shot a number of times at Cherry Orchard Parade in Ballyfermot at around 6.15pm.

He was discovered on a green area close to the rail line at Cherry Orchard, and he was taken to St James' Hospital with what is described as serious injuries.

Gardaí have preserved the scene of the shooting, and are appealing for anyone who may have any information to contact them in Ballyfermot on 01 6667200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
