Telcoms Esat BT and BT Northern Ireland are to provide an all-Ireland communications solution to leading fuel distributor Maxol.
The service will allow Maxol Direct to connect and centrally control its national network from its Northern Ireland base.
The Telcoms are to provide the service using MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) which provides businesses with company-wide connectivity by linking all sites within an organisation.
Unlike more traditional networks, MPLS allows for different business applications to be prioritised across the network.
This reduces failures, thereby reducing costs, and increases the ability of employees to access and share information either from their office or home.
According to Sean O'Connor, Systems Manager, Maxol Direct : "MPLS has delivered significant business benefits by giving the company greater control and overview of its key administration and IT tasks.
"In addition, the MPLS network is flexible enough to grow with the company by easily facilitating the addition of new sites, should Maxol Direct decide to make further acquisitions," he added.
