Workers at the Dairygold plant in Mitchelstown have organised a protest this afternoon over recent job cuts at the company.

It follows the recent announcement that 270 people were to be let go at its main plants in Mitchelstown and Roscrea.

The Mitchelstown Business Association has warned that the job cuts could have a serious effect on the local economy, and has called on the Government to intervene to help the area to get over the crisis.
