Russia's Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed that everyone on board the airliner which crashed in Siberia has been killed.
However, it is not know how many were on board, although earlier reports said the Tu-154 plane carried 133 passengers and 10 crew.
The figure could be higher because of the widespread practice of airlines taking unticketed passengers.
The plane, belonging to the Vladivostokavia airline, disappeared from radar screens about 5:10pm GMT.
It was en route from Yekaterinburg in the Ural Mountains to Vladivostok.
The plane tried twice to land in Irkutsk, where it was to refuel, and crashed while making a third attempt to land.
It is not known why it had been unable to land.
The wreckage was discovered near the village of Burdakovka, about 20 miles from Irkutsk.
Andrei Radchenko, of the Irkutsk regional rescue authorities, said the plane was completely burned and there was no sign of survivors.
President Vladimir Putin has ordered an investigation which will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister Ilya Klebanov.
