Midfield switch for Limerick hurlers

Kilmallock's Paudie O'Brien returns at midfield for Limerick's All-Ireland SHC third phase qualifier against Clare tomorrow night.

Kilmallock's Paudie O'Brien returns at midfield for Limerick's All-Ireland SHC third phase qualifier against Clare tomorrow night.

O'Brien's inclusion is the only change to the Limerick team that started their landslide 8-26 to 1-15 win over Antrim last time out.

Patrickswell clubman Thomas O'Brien drops to the bench with the incoming O'Brien linking up with James Ryan in the Shannonsiders' engine room.

The versatile Brian Geary appears in attack again at centre forward, with Seamus Hickey, Kevin Downes and Declan Hannon all kept in reserve.

Shane Dowling (4-9) and Graeme Mulcahy (2-4) were in brilliant scoring form against the Saffrons, and they will need to be razor sharp in Thurles against a Clare side that ended Dublin's Championship aspirations last weekend.

Limerick and Clare met twice in this year's Allianz League with the Banner men winning both games, including the Division 1B final in April (0-21 to 1-16).

LIMERICK (SHC v Clare): Nickie Quaid; Stephen Walsh, Richie McCarthy, Tom Condon; Wayne McNamara, Donal O'Grady, Gavin O'Mahony; James Ryan, Paudie O'Brien; Shane Dowling, Brian Geary, David Breen; Graeme Mulcahy, Niall Moran, Sean Tobin.
