The Tanaiste Mary Harney will meet representatives of the Irish Farmers Association later today in an effort to resolve their dispute with Greencore over prices offered to sugar beet producers.
The two sides held four days of unsuccessful talks under the auspices of a Government mediator last week.
The IFA has said Greencore is paying farmers 10% less than it was last year and those farmers are now withholding their produce from the company as part of their dispute.
This move has led to the closure of Greencore’s two sugar factories in Carlow and Mallow.
