The Health Service Executive has reportedly decided to abandon any further roll-out of the controversial PPARS computer system.

The Health Service Executive has reportedly decided to abandon any further roll-out of the controversial PPARS computer system.

The introduction of the computerised payroll system was suspended after almost two years amid concerns about spiralling costs.

More than €130m was spent on the system, compared to an original estimate of €9m.

Reports this morning say the HSE has now decided to stop any further roll-out of PPARS and introduce a different computer system with a broader range of functions.
