Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom today said the Israeli army could complete its pullout of Gaza as early as next Monday, three days ahead of schedule.

Israel decided to move forward its September 15 departure date from Gaza after an incident yesterday in which dozens of rock-throwing Palestinian youths charged toward abandoned Israeli settlements and climbed on an Israeli tank.

A Palestinian teenager was killed by Israeli troops firing to keep back the crowd.

Shalom said the Cabinet decided to make an announcement on Sunday that it would complete its pullout from Gaza early. The final pullout could come as soon as Monday, he said.
