A 10-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car in Co Offaly.

A 10-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car in Co Offaly.

The accident happened just after 9 am this morning at Ballykilmurray on the Tullamore to Rahan Rd.

The road has been closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have been on the road between 9am and 9.20am to contact them.
