By Denise O'Donoghue

Limerick FC were introducing fans to their new players online this week when one photo sent social media into meltdown.

16-year-old striker Barry Cotter is one of their newest signings, but fans have been quick to point out that he could easily pass for Brazilian professional footballer Neymar.

Young Barry shares more than just looks with the famous footballer - he also has a similar self-confidence.

"I’m just hoping for a brighter future. It’s a massive opportunity – I couldn’t ask for anymore at this time," he told LimerickFC.ie.

"I’m looking for a top-three finish, and on goals I’m looking to score at least one or two in each game for the rest of the season."

The story of Neymar's Irish doppelgänger has been picked up by international news organisations such as The Guardian and Bleacher Report.
