A major gorse fire affecting thousands of acres of scrub land at Killarney National Park has been brought under control.

The blaze, which broke out yesterday, on Shehy Mountain spread over six miles to Tomies Mountain.

Fire crews tackled the blaze overnight and an investigation into what caused it is underway.
