Russian pop duo tATu today pulled the plug on two UK arena dates with just days to go.
They are understood to have sold only a fraction of the tickets for the shows in Manchester and London, which both hold more than 10,000 fans.
The pair were due to play Wembley Arena on Friday but the venue was informed today that the promoter had cancelled.
A show at Manchester’s MEN Arena on May 4 has also been pulled.
The pop act lined up the shows despite having just one hit to their name. Most major artists who play such large venues would have built up a large fan base before appearing at arenas.
The teenage duo, who claim to be lesbians, scored a number one hit earlier this year with All The Things She Said.
Their raunchy routines on TV dressed as schoolgirls raised a number of eyebrows.
They are believed to have sold as few as 1,000 tickets for the 12,000 capacity Wembley Arena show.
Wembley Arena said today: “Ticket holders are advised to retain their tickets and return to the original point of purchase for a full refund.”
