Bank shares up as ISEQ Index gains 4.7%

The value of shares on the Irish Stock Exchange has increased by almost 5% in early trading today.

The value of shares on the Irish Stock Exchange has increased by almost 5% in early trading today.

The ISEQ Index was up 4.7% just before 11am, with the banks all experiencing gains.

Bank of Ireland has seen its share price rise 12% to €1.40, while Anglo-Irish Bank is up by a similar amount to more than €1.

AIB has also seen its price rise almost 3% and Irish Life and Permanent is up 10%.
