Gardaí are investigating the armed robbery of a bookmakers in Louth this evening.

Gardaí are investigating the armed robbery of a bookmakers in Louth this evening.

A man entered Boylesports on Clanbrassil Street in Dundalk shortly before 7pm armed with a firearm.

He threatened staff and made off with a sum of cash, there are no reports of any injuries.

The suspect, who was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered, escaped via Long Walk and made his way back onto Clanbrassil Street via a laneway.

Anyone who has any information or noticed anything suspicious is asked to contact Gardaí.
