Afghanistan’s ruling Taliban is preparing suicide squads to attack US and British aircraft and special forces, it was reported today.

The squads include Afghan and non-Afghan troops prepared to give their lives in kamikaze-style suicide attacks, using gliders or improvised vehicles, said Iran’s official IRNA news agency, quoting an unnamed Pakistani newspaper.

The fighters will lie in ambush close to buildings, hilltops, and hideouts considered potential targets for US troops, it added. If special forces are seen, the squads will attempt to ram into them before exploding.

The man behind the plan is a Moroccan, the newspaper said, supposedly a relative of Hashem Menqarah, a prominent member of Yasser Arafat’s Al Fatah movement.
