Lee Bowyer could be on his way from Leeds to Newcastle, according to The People.
The paper claims that Bobby Robson is ready to take the biggest gamble of his managerial career by signing the midfielder.
Bowyer is out of contract at the end of this season and is free to have talks with foreign clubs next week.
But the Magpies are reportedly prepared to make a move for him even though they would probably have to wait until the summer to clinch any deal.
