Detectives investigating the vicious murder of a teenage boy in Northern Ireland have seized a passport, it emerged today.

The 16-year-old was stabbed in Portadown, Co Armagh, last night following a confrontation in the town centre.

The victim, whose name has not been released, died later in hospital.

Officers were today hunting for a foreign national they want to question about the attack in the Carlton Street and Meadow Lane part of the town.

In recent years Portadown has experienced an influx of people from outside Northern Ireland seeking work in factories in the surrounding area.

It is understood the victim had been involved in a dispute earlier this month close to where he was knifed.

George Savage, an Ulster Unionist Assembly member for the area, said he was horrified by the stabbing.

“This is utterly despicable,” he said.

“This is a terrible thing to happen during the festive season.”
