US President George W Bush has urged the IRA to honour its commitments to decommission its weapons.

US President George W Bush has urged the IRA to honour its commitments to decommission its weapons.

In an interview with the London Times, Mr Bush makes his first effort to intervene in the Northern peace process since taking over the US presidency in January.

Mr Bush said the decommissioning of paramilitary arms is essential and he offered his help to the British and Irish Governments in safeguarding the Good Friday Agreement.
