Officials at Chepstow have been forced to call an 8am inspection for tomorrow ahead of their scheduled Friday meeting.
The track was hit with almost 60 millimetres of rain from Monday night through to Tuesday and suffered further showers last night.
With the track currently waterlogged in places and the chance of further showers later this afternoon, clerk of the course Tim Long has decided to take a look.
“We had a lot of rain Monday night and Tuesday and we’ve had another five millimetres last night,” said Long.
“We’ve just had another sharp shower now so we are still very much waterlogged in places and the forecast is for ongoing showers.
“We will assess the situation tomorrow and if we think a dry 24 hours after that could see us race, then we can go forward.
“If we are certain that a dry 24 hours would not be enough, we will call it off as soon as we can help everybody in the industry.”
