Gardaí in Cork have released a man and a woman arrested in connection with a stabbing incident over the weekend.

The pair, who are both in their twenties, were arrested after a man was stabbed outside an apartment complex at Fair Green yesterday.

He is in a critical condition at Beaumount Hospital in Dublin.

A file on the case is now to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Meanwhile gardaí are continuing to investigate a separate stabbing which happened in the early hours of this morning at Sunday School Lane on the northside of Cork City.

A man in his twenties suffered wounds to his back and neck when he was attacked by a gang.
