Recent third-level graduates are receiving significantly higher salaries in the public sector than in the private sector, according to a new study by the ESRI.

The economic think-tank says recent graduates are earning 30% more per hour in the public sector.

However, the study also found that private-sector employees work longer hours, meaning their take-home pay at the end of the week is just 9% behind that of workers in the public sector.
