January sees surge in the number of start-ups

An average of 132 start-up companies and businesses were established every day in January - up by 22.5% compared to the same period last year.

That is according to credit risk analyst Vision-net.ie, who say that 2014 saw the highest levels of start-ups since 2007.

The analysts predict 2015 will be another strong year.

Almost half of all company start-ups in January were located in Dublin and the most popular industry for start-ups is professional services with the construction industry also seeing an increase.
