Three people, including two children, have been killed after a vehicle struck a Halloween-themed trailer in Mississippi.
The three were related, Newton County coroner Danny Shoemaker said.
"It was just chaos," he added, describing the scene on US Highway 80 in Chunky, near the Alabama border, about 80 miles east of Jackson.
Mr Shoemaker said two died at the scene and the other died waiting for an air ambulance.
Three helicopters and multiple ambulances took the casualties to hospitals, some with life-threatening injuries, Highway Patrol captain Johnny Poulos said.
Capt Poulos said it appeared the vehicle struck the flat-bed trailer at about 7.45pm local time on Monday.
He said he did not know who sponsored the trailer ride, in which people were dressed in Halloween costumes.
Chunky, with a population of about 325, is near the Chunky River, a popular site for canoeing.
