Shatter slams FF vote transfer call

Fine Gael is slamming Bertie Ahern's call for Fianna Fáil supporters to transfer votes to the Progressive Democrats.

Fine Gael is slamming Bertie Ahern's call for Fianna Fáil supporters to transfer votes to the Progressive Democrats.

In their strongest signal yet, the main opposition is calling on Labour to form an election pact.

Alan Shatter says the Taoiseach’s gesture shows there are no differences between the Government parties.

He says the electorate will see through this.

"Fine Gael is the one party in this election that can categorically say we will not climb into bed with Fianna Fáil, we will not be doing a deal with Fianna Fáil," he said.

"We are offering something different to what Fianna Fáil are offering, and of course our preferred preference in the context of this election is that people having voted Fine Gael candidates, will go on and vote Labour and Green candidates in order to ensure that we do have an alternative government," said Shatter.
