SIPTU has told 200 of its members who work at Dublin Airport to frustrate the operations of CityJet Handling, which is refusing union recognition to around 100 of its workers.

SIPTU called a general meeting of all its members at Dublin Airport today to discuss what action to take in support of the CityJet workers, who are currently striking in pursuit of better pay and conditions.

The company has refused to enter talks with SIPTU, which represents the staff, and has vowed not to renew the workers’ contracts when they expire this week.

Speaking after today’s meeting, union spokesman Dermot O’Loughlin said SIPTU members have been asked to cause disruption in around 20 areas of the airport where they interface with CityJet Handling in an effort to make the French-owned company’s operations unsustainable.
