Aer Lingus pilots have voted by an overwhelming majority to endorse independent proposals aimed at reducing the number of pilots working at the airline.

The proposal was accepted by 310 votes to 60, but the pilots rejected a separate proposal on working conditions by 635 votes to three.

IMPACT’s Michael Landers said the pilots are still willing to discuss a compromise on the issue of working conditions.

“As it’s currently written, there are some parts of it that we find totally unacceptable and, quite clearly, our members overwhelmingly are not prepared to work those terms and conditions,” he said.
