The National Safety Council is advising road users to take extra care today following a severe weather warning from Met Eireann.

Forecasters have predicted strong winds and heavy rainfall throughout the country, with southern areas expected to be worst hit.

Motorists have been advised to take particular care to avoid fallen debris and flooded roads and to be careful in areas where strong gusts could cause them to lose control of their vehicles.
