Flat jockey Kieren Fallon has 10 days to apply for a licence to ride in the Melbourne Cup.

He has never ridden in Australia and is banned from riding in the UK after being charged with conspiracy to defraud - a charge he denies.

Fallon is booked to partner one of the favourites in next month's famous two-mile race.
