Four people have died in three separate road crashes in Kilkenny, Galway and Dublin today.

Four people have died in three separate road crashes in Kilkenny, Galway and Dublin today.

Two women were killed and three others, including a child, were injured following a major pile-up near Thomastown in Kilkenny just after 9am.

An articulated truck and three cars collided on the N9 just outside the town.

Gardaí and emergency services are at the scene and the road, which is blocked, will remain closed for the rest of the day.

Meanwhile, a man was killed after he was knocked down by a truck on Whitefriar Street in Dublin city just after 10am.

An 18-year-old motorist also died after the car he was driving crashed into a tree at Clonbrock, on the Ahascragh to Caltra Road in Co Galway, at around 6am.
