An election official in Thailand is calling for reforms to voting procedures.
The reforms are intended to prevent confusion and irregularities of the kind that marred last week's general elections.
Almost a week after the January 6 elections, final results have still not been announced, leading to delays and violent protests.
Yuvarut Gamolwej, one of the country's five election commissioners, says Thailand should learn from India and the United States.
Chaos has reigned in many counting centers and losing candidates have alleged widespread irregularities in the voting and counting process.
Voters have also complained that the layout of the ballot papers was confusing.
They had to place a cross against specific numbers assigned to each candidate.
Mr Yuvarut has suggested that ballots in future elections should contain the candidates' names, photos, numbers and party symbols "just like in India".
He also suggests that in future, the counting process should be monitored by representatives of the two biggest parties and a third neutral observer, as is done in the United States.
