Teenager dead after collision with aircraft

Gardai in Cork are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a teenager after he collided with a micro-light aircraft in Fermoy.

Gardai in Cork are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a teenager after he collided with a micro-light aircraft in Fermoy.

The collision occurred at about 8pm last night at Macroney.

The 17-year-old collided with the aircraft which was on the ground at the time.

It is thought that he may have been struck by a propeller while he carried out maintenance on the plane.

A post mortem is due to take place later today at University College Hospital in Cork.
