Andrew Garfield went into “pure shock” when he won the role of Spider-Man.
The British actor was unaware he had been given the part in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ reboot and only found out when he was confronted with the movie’s director Marc Webb and a film crew tasked with recording his reaction.
He said: “They flew in Marc Webb, the director, and the producers. They had a film crew recording my reaction, which was pure shock. It was an incredible moment that I will never forget.”
The 27-year-old star has always wanted the role of the web-slinging superhero ever since he could wear a Halloween outfit.
He told Shortlist magazine: “That character has meant so much to me since I was old enough to understand the concept of justice and to wear a Halloween costume.”
Andrew is not the only British star to appear in the film – Rhys Ifans has recently been confirmed as the actor who will play the as-yet-unknown baddie in the film.
Also cast is ‘Easy A’ beauty Emma Stone as the titular superhero’s love interest Gwen Stacy.
