The Railway Procurement Agency is reporting after-tax profits of almost €7.5m for last year.
That is an increase of around €800,000 on the previous year.
The agency, which is celebrating the fifth anniversary of the launch of the red and green lines of the Luas, said last year was challenging as demand for public transport is falling.
Its annual report, published today, shows a drop of 3.5% in passenger numbers in 2008 and forecasts that numbers will decline further this year.
