Homemade explosives found stashed in Louth ditch

Gardaí in Co Louth have recovered a small quantity of homemade explosives during a search near Dundalk.

Gardaí in Co Louth have recovered a small quantity of homemade explosives during a search near Dundalk.

The substance was found in plastic bags stashed in a ditch near Kilcorry yesterday.

Further searches of the area are expected to be carried out today.

No arrests have been made, but the explosives are believed to have been stashed by dissident republicans.
