Cork driver, Michael Keohane faces a difficult task as he tries to hold on to second place in the Avon Tyres British Formula 3 Championship.
The 22 year old will start today’s eleventh round on the seventh row of the grid and earlier today, he qualified on the fifth row for tomorrow’s twelfth round of the series.
Keohane, who missed the test days at the Northampton circuit a few weeks ago due to his back injury, remarked, "I’m having top play catch up with the rest of the drivers. I picked up over half a second lap today. The aim is to get as many championship points as possible."
For the first race that takes place later this afternoon, Keohane’s Carlin Motorsport team mate, James Courtney has pole from Robbie Kerr. For tomorrow’s race, Mark Taylor (pole) and James Courtney occupy the front row.
Portadown's, Adam Carroll has pole (Race 1) and off pole (Race 2) in the Scholarship Class Eoin Murray (Dublin) finished fourth in the Renault Clio Championship race. He held third for most of the race until he was overtaken by Martin Byford at Copse Corner. The race was won by Daniel Buxton.
Meanwhile, in Germany, Michael Devaney finished sixth and fourth in the two Formula BMW races. With championship leader, Nico Rosberg failing to net any championship points, Dubliner, Devaney, has closed to within 34 points.
