Catterick abandoned

Tomorrow’s meeting at Catterick has been abandoned due to waterlogging.

Heavy rain on Monday had put the meeting in doubt and further downpours today made the track unsafe.

After holding a 3.30pm inspection, clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson said: “We’ve had to abandon.

“We had a total of 21 millimetres on Monday and we’ve had another four millimetres today.

“Even if we didn’t get another drop it wouldn’t dry before racing. It is now waterlogged and there are now false patches of ground so it’s just not safe.”
