Cole suspension reduced

Fulham striker Andy Cole has had his three-match suspension reduced to one by the Football Association after a successful appeal.

Fulham striker Andy Cole has had his three-match suspension reduced to one by the Football Association after a successful appeal.

Cole had been suspended for a total of six games after incidents in the away fixture against West Brom last month when he was sent off for violent conduct.

Cole was red carded after appearing to throw a punch at Albion defender Neil Clement and has already served an automatic three-game ban for the dismissal.

However, the FA disciplinary commission banned him for a further three games - an extra one match ban for violent conduct and two games for using "abusive and/or insulting words to a match official".

But the body’s appeal board saw fit to reduce the ban, halving the abuse suspension and removing the extra one-match ban for "excessive violent conduct".

Cole will be suspended for the game against Liverpool this weekend but will be available to face Aston Villa.
