Thousands expected to attend Dublin careers event

A two-day careers event is getting underway at Dublin's Mansion House this morning.

Over 2,500-hundred current job vacancies will be showcased at Career Zoo, over the the course of the weekend.

Up to 10,000 people are expected to attend the event, which is aimed at hiring qualified professionals and graduates for jobs in Ireland.

Director at Career Zoo, Jackie Slattery, said companies in a number of sectors will be highlighting the opportunities available.

"The big employment areas at the moment are IT, finance, pharmaceutical and some sectors in engineering," she said.

"But that's not to say that there aren't jobs here as well in areas like HR, customer service, sales and project management.

"Those are the buoyant areas and a lot of employers are looking for those kinds of candidates."
