Gardaí arrest man in Dublin after two assaults

Gardaí in Dublin are investigating two assaults yesterday evening in the Raheny area.

Gardaí in Dublin are investigating two assaults yesterday evening in the Raheny area.

At around 6pm yesterday evening a man, his partner and their young child were in St. Anne's Park when they were approached by a man in his late 20s.

Without provocation, the man assaulted the other man with a broken bottle leaving him with minor injuries.

Shortly afterwards, gardaí approached a man on Main Street in Raheny who matched the description of the assailant.

The man assaulted a garda with a broken bottle, causing injury to his eye.

The garda was taken to hospital for treatment, but has since been released.

The suspect was arrested and is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
