British Consul General killed in Turkey blast

The British Consul General in Istanbul was killed in today’s bomb attacks, witnesses said today.

The British Consul General in Istanbul was killed in today’s bomb attacks, witnesses said today.

Roger Short died in the blast at the consulate in the Turkish city, said Ian Sherwood, the consulate’s chaplain.

He told CNN: “It is quite devastating, the whole thing.”

Rev Sherwood said he knew of six people who had died in the attack, including Mr Short.

“A lot of people would also have been injured. There was a lot of shop windows and glass shattering.”

Reports from Turkey put the death toll from the two blasts at 25, with more than 400 injured.
