Fine Gael says the Government must properly co-ordinate immigration issues in the wake of the death of a baby with Nigerian parents after a botched circumcision in Waterford.

Fine Gael says the Government must properly co-ordinate immigration issues in the wake of the death of a baby with Nigerian parents after a botched circumcision in Waterford.

The party's Foreign Affairs spokesman Gay Mitchell said that cultural traditions must be included in any integrated system.

Deputy Mitchell adds it also shows the need for Irish hospitals to accommodate this type of procedure.

"The Government must do more to help non-nationals," he said.
