New credit-card style driving licences are to be issued from January of next year.

New credit-card style driving licences are to be issued from January of next year.

The new cards will carry the motorist's photograph, name, address and category of licence.

Under the penalty points system due to be introduced over the coming 12 months, it will also become law for all motorists to carry their licence.
