Arsenal's French connection blitzed Bayer Leverkusen to send Arsenal charging to the top of Group D.

Robert Pires scored his 10th of the season after five minutes and Thierry Henry struck his 28th as he finished off a sweeping move.

Leverkusen’s dismal defending was again punished when Vieira headed Arsenal's third goal from Henry's free-kick.

Dennis Bergkamp stepped up to score a stunning goal from 25 yards just before Sebescen got a consolation for the away side.
