It is being reported that Grainne Murphy is considering her future in the sport following the non-renewal of the contract of her coach Ronald Claes and his non-replacement with another coach, and Swim Ireland’s failure to offer her assurances about the future of the high performance centre in UL.

The paper says the 19-year-old Wexford native's plans were also thrown into disarray with the news that the high performance centre in the University of Limerick where she had been training, as well as the current structure of Irish swimming, were under review.
Murphy finished 10 seconds off her personal best in the 400 metres freestyle at the Olympics but her preparations for the event had been severely hampered by glandular fever.
The south east athlete withdrew from the 800 metres but the article reports that she was told her future funding could be affected if she did not participate.
