Cape Clear has announced the beta release of CapeConnect 3.5, the company's web services platform.
The new release includes complete support for Microsoft's forthcoming release of Visual Studio.NET. The full commercial release of CapeConnect 3.5 is expected by the end of February, 2002. It also adds new functionality, including support for databases over SOAP, enhanced UDDI functionality and additional support for complex legacy applications.
Annrai O'Toole, CEO of Cape Clear commented, "The J2EE versus.NET quandary is analogous to a comparison of commodity suppliers. Barring issues of trust, the fundamental need of customers is that these services work as advertised. It is time for software vendors to realise that diversity is in the nature of computer technology and that the key requirement is interoperability.
"Our focus on .NET interoperability, with existing support for J2EE and CORBA, provides a means for every company to use the best tools and applications for their business, and to be comfortable in knowing that there will be seamless interoperability through independent web services platforms such as CapeConnect."
